John Francis Barrett no 64130
1/5th Battalion Manchester Regt.

John was the eldest son of John Barrett and Margaret O'Neill and was born 1896, living in Orme St, Oldham.
In 1911 the family were at 65, Marlborough St and he was a grocer's boy.
Between 1913 and 1915 he studied book-keeping at the Co-op and worked in their bank.
He intended to become a Roman Catholic priest.
He was killed in action 20th Oct 1918 and
He is buried in Belle Vue British cemetery, Briastre, France
