'SERVICEMEN WE KNOW'

John Hilton

Private John Hilton, 375418
1st/7th Battalion Manchester Regiment

CWGC

From Private John Hilton's memorial details on the CWGC website we know that he died of wounds on the 26th October, 1918 age 27 and that he was buried in Greenacres Cemetery, in Oldham.
The 1st/7th Battalion was a Territorial battalion and, although recorded as serving on the Western Front in 1918, we have no knowledge of when or where Private John Hilton was wounded.
The Theatre of War First Served in, 2b, indicates that he was with his battalion in Gallipoli (The Dardanelles) in May 1915
