CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTION IN WW1
Francis Bowden *Pearce List says he died after arrest but not in prison. Said to be of Oldham and aged 21 in 1916. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Named on the wooden memorial plaque of COs who died which is held by the Peace Pledge Union. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ No death found in GRO indexes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Search of 1911 census for F Bowden in Oldham area shows 13 people but only one male - Frank Bowden son of Nancy. He was killed 9 Aug 1915 (CWGC).
