CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTION IN WW1

Thomas Edward Dove

Salford Hundreds Appeal Tribunal 5 December 1916
Reported Oldham Chronicle 9 December 1916

The appeal of Thomas Edward Dove of 84 Villa Road, Oldham had been adjourned for fourteen days to allow the appellant to bring further evidence of his conscientious objection.
He now handed in a bundle of letters to that effect.

Are you prepared to take work of national importance?
- As long as it is not connected directly or indirectly with the war.
I would take farming.

Told to find work of national importance at least 25 miles away from home.
