Cotton spinner, 25 years of age

His only brother had recently been killed
[34249 Pte Fred Savory, Royal Army Medical Corps
died 3 October 1914, buried Holy Trinity Churchyard, Shaw]

He said he would not save a life so that a man might go on and take a life.

"The Briar Mill is spinning yarn for military uniforms therefore you are assisting the war effort already.
- Not directly."
