Newspaper obituary:

"Sergeant A. Finnigan (15328), Manchester Regiment, was killed in action on July 2nd. Aged 32 and unmarried, he enlisted in the Oldham Comrades Battalion eleven months ago, being prior to that ganger over out-door workers in the employ of the Oldham Corporation.

A letter received by his mother, who resides at 15 Marsland Street, Oldham, from Lieutenant Davidson says that Finnigan's death was the result of wounds received by shell fire.

He worked very hard for the platoon, and was of exceptional value to the bombers. He was always very pleasant to work with, and was very good to the men.".
