THE BATTLE OF THE SOMME
THIEPVAL MEMORIAL
JULY TO NOVEMBER 1916

REMEMBERING LOCAL SOLDIERS WHO FELL ON THE SOMME BATTLEFIELDS

In the event of a soldier having been killed, it's not always been possible to identify, with certainty, that all of them were actually serving on the Somme Battlefields in 1916. The deaths were not always in a battle but sometimes as a result of the constant sniping and shellfire, etc. Soldiers might be wounded on the Somme but die and be buried elsewhere, as a result of their injuries ... we apologise in advance for mistakes and will immediately rectify any errors of which we are made aware. There are at least 200 cemeteries in which Somme casualties are buried. A list, with extensive information, can be seen HERE
