Newspaper obituary:

"Official news has been received by the sister of Sergeant William Miley (6408), East Lancashire Regiment, stating that he fell in action on July 15. Before being called up as a reservist on the outbreak of war he worked as a labourer at Messrs Platt Bros' old works. He went through the South African war and had been wounded and gassed in the present war. He was 33 years of age and married. His sister, Mrs A E Bocking, lives at 36 Gordon Street, Derker, Oldham. "
