"Private Wilfred Thorne, Manchester Regiment, was killed in action on July 10th. Thorne was 21 years of age and worked as a joiner-minder at the Lily Mill up to his joining is group in January, and he went to the front in April. Thorne lived with his married sister, Mrs Sefton, at 6 Travis Street, Shaw. "
