"Lance-Corporal Wright Nelson (4024), Lancashire Fusiliers, of 19 Jacob Street off Chadderton Road, Oldham, was killed in action on July 6th . He was a single man, 31 years of age, and was well known in the Higginshaw district, where he had resided for many years. He enlisted a fortnight after the outbreak of war and had been in France thirteen months. Before enlisting he worked as a joiner-minder at the Bee Spinning Co.'s mill, Royton. "
