"Sergeant Joseph Phillibin, of the West Riding Regiment, was killed in action on July 4th. Phillibin was 27 years of age, single, and resided at 25 Foundry Street, Oldham.
He had served seven years in the Territorials at the outbreak of war when he was mobilised.
He worked in the spindle shop at Messrs. Platt's New Works before the war"
