Newspaper obituary:

"Private Aquila Cockcroft (17685), South Lancashire Regiment, of 3 Commercial Street, Werneth, died on July 22nd in Ampton Hill Hospital, Bury St. Edmunds, from wounds received on July 5th in the big advance. He was 44 years of age, and enlisted in September 1914. He had been in France fifteen months. Prior to the war he worked as a labourer at Messrs Platt Bros and Co.'s works. He was buried last week at Hollinwood Cemetery, the coffin being covered with a Union Jack. "
