"Official intimation has been received of the death in action in France on July 1st of Private Fred Hornby, Manchester Regiment (Pals). He was 21 years of age and was a machine joiner at Messrs. Platt Bros. and Co.'s New Works. He resided with his parents at 28 Villiers Street, Oldham. He was called up under the group system on January 25th of this year and had been six weeks in France. "
