"Private Joseph Lees, of the Shropshire Light Infantry, was killed in action on July 14. He was 22 years of age, and resided with his parents at 15 Carnarvon Street, Hollinwood,

Lees joined the army in November 1915, and went out to the front on June 1st. He was formerly a piecer at the Hollinwood Spinning Co.'s mill, and was connected with St. John's United Methodist school, his parents being well-known Hollinwood people. "
